Humans have won against artificial intelligence in a game of poker. Last week, Brains Vs. Artificial Intelligence poker tournament was organized at Pittsburgh's Rivers Casino in which humans were declared winner.

It shall, however, be noted that computer lost the game with a very small margin. The competition was played by four of the top poker players. They played 80,000 hands of Heads-up No-limit Texas Hold'em against the artificial intelligence program called Claudico.

The competition continued for two weeks and by the end of it, three of the four players were able to win more money than Claudico. The poker professionals were able to win from the computer's final total by $732,713 collectively.

The three who were ahead of the artificial intelligence were Doug Polk, Dong Kim and Bjorn Li, but the fourth one, Jason Les, could not match the pace. Among the three, Li was at the top and led Caludico by $529,033.

Second position was taken by Polk who led by $213,671 and Kim was at the third position who led Caludico by $80,482. During the contest, the participants have bet $170, but their monetary lead was up to less than half a percentage point of the total.

As per which, it would be considered as a 'statastical tie'. Polk shared that Caludico faced great problem is solving skills in the competition. But he also affirmed that the artificial intelligence took those steps that humans normally might not take. To cite an example, the artificial intelligence was ready to wager more than humans were willing to wager.

Toumas Sandholm, Claudico development director, said, "We knew Claudico was the strongest computer poker program in the world, but we had no idea before this competition how it would fare against four Top 10 poker players".

They are not ashamed for Claudico and it has been able to have a statistical tie.
