'It is our responsibility to rectify 16 years of mistakes': PM Modi
New Delhi, Feb 3 : Attacking the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said both parties had ruined Delhi in the last 16 years and it was now the BJP's responsibility to rectify past mistakes.
"Congress ruined your 15 years, then there was a temporary party-they ruined the city for a year, now it's our responsibility to rectify the mistakes of 16 years," Prime Minister Modi said at a rally in Rohini.
The Prime Minister added that the national capital should be governed by those with experience.
"When people discuss India the world over, when the world is looking at India, it looks at Delhi first. People get to know India through Delhi. Delhi should be governed by those with experience. Your dreams are my dreams, your hopes and expectations are my responsibility," he said.
While asserting that he was grateful to the people of Delhi for the Lok Sabha results, Prime Minister Modi listed an array of promises for the voters of the city.
"Those who ask us about price rise, can I ask you- in January 2014 what was price of gas cylinder and what is price in January 2015? One year ago gas cylinder was sold at Rs 1240, today at Rs 605," said the Prime Minister.
"We decided to authorize all colonies. This was in the line for ages but was used only for elections. We ended these games. By 2022, in India, all the poor will have his/her own house. We want to resolve the power problems in Delhi, want to convert this 'generator capital' to 'power generation capital'," he added.
Reiterating his commitment towards the poor, Prime Minister Modi said he had seen poverty right from his birth.
"We care for the poor and the villages, and please, I say, do not give me lessons on poverty, I have seen what poverty is right from my birth," he stated.
The BJP goes head-to-head with the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress party in the Delhi assembly polls, scheduled to be held on February 7 with counting of votes to be held on February 10. (ANI)
