Govt. formation deadlock: Omar takes on PDP, BJP
New Delhi, Jan 5 : Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday raised questions on reported talks between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) regarding government formation in the state.
In his tweet, Omar said that when he raised the issue of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), he was accused of playing politics with national security, whereas now the ruling BJP is discussing government formation with the PDP which wants revocation of AFSPA.
"So, when I raised AFSPA I was accused of playing politics with Nat Sec. BJP negotiates Govt formation with @jkpdp using AFSPA and that's OK??" Omar tweeted.
The National Conference leader said PDP's stand that the tie up with the BJP is necessary for the Rs 44,000 crore flood relief is absurd as every state should get its due.
"We are being told by the @jkpdp that the tie up with BJP is necessary for the Rs. 44,000 Cr flood relief. Shouldn't a state just get its due?" he said in another tweet.
The elections in the state threw up a hung verdict, with the PDP emerging as the single-largest party in with 28 seats. The BJP won 25 seats, with the National Conference and Congress winning 15 and 12 seats respectively. (ANI)
