New York - `Dawson`s Creek` actor James Van Der Beek will reportedly star in the spin-off of hit TV series `CSI: Crime Scene Investigation`.

The 37-year-old actor will play FBI agent Elijah Mundo opposite actress Patricia Arquette in the upcoming series `CSI: Cyber`, reportedly.

His character is said to be `an expert in battlefield forensics` and a `savant when it comes to weaponry, vehicles and bombs` who served in Afghanistan.

Van Der Beek last co-starred on the short-lived CBS series `Friends With Better Lives` and also appeared on `Don`t Trust The B` and `Mercy`, both of which didn`t last very long.

He played Dawson Leery on `Dawson`s Creek` from 1998-2003. (PTI)
