Lahore, Apr 30 : The new PPP-PML-N coalition government in Islamabad has failed to impress upon the public at large as it has been unable to contain the skyrocketing prices during its first month of governance.

According to a survey carried out in Lahore by the Daily Times, people are dissatisfied by the new regime in so far its ability to check the rising prices is concerned.

The paper spoke to a wide range of residents in the city, only to learn that the people are reeling under price rise pressure, even as the prices of essential commodities go out of the common man’s reach. People averred that the government was giving more importance to other issues like judges restoration, than addressing those concerning the common man.

“It is regrettable that the government has not solved a single issue of public concern,” said Abdul Wahab, a Johar Town resident.

Aurangzeb, an Allama Iqbal Town resident, said the only relief he had got from the new government was that in the wheat harvest season he was compelled to pay more to buy flour.

Muhammad Kashif, a resident of Cantt, lamented that officers posted by the coalition government had issued him with inflated utility bills.

Ashfaq Ahmad, a bureaucrat, said, “The coalition parties made a number of promises during their electoral campaigns. It will be next to impossible for them to achieve these all goals. How can the government provide relief to the people in a month?”

Tanveer Ahmad, a Defence Housing Authority resident, said, “Unless the judiciary issue is resolved, the government will not be able to pay attention to other issues. The government should tell the people if it does not want to restore the deposed judges.” (ANI)
