IIM-B students receive leadership roles

IIM-B students receive leadership roles Students of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) received offers for leadership roles from companies that were previously recruiting candidates from foreign universities for the same roles.

Nearly 150 companies made a total of 415 offers to students of the 2013 batch of the IIM-B during the final placement season. While the number of offers made this year is lower than last year's 423 offers from 126 companies, more leadership roles were offered this year than last year.

Professor Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson of Career Development Services at IIM-B said that some leading Indian firms chose students from the institute to groom them for the strategic leadership roles.

Speaking on the topic, Prof Basu said, "Some leading Indian firms have chosen IIM-B students who can be groomed for the strategic leadership roles. These firms were earlier recruiting candidates from foreign universities for the same posts."

Prof Basu added that salaries offered to IIM-B's students were fairly equal to the salaries that the companies were offering to candidates from foreign universities.

The list of companies that participated includes big Indian names like Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra Group, Tata Administrative Services; international financial institutions like HSBC, Swiss investment bank UBS, Bank of America and Citibank; consulting firms Greenwich and Roland Berger; and private equity firm like the Blackstone Group (London).
