Anheuser-Busch sued over watering down allegations
InBev's Anheuser-Busch has been sued in the US for allegedly watering down Budweiser and nine other famous American beer brands.
Attorney Josh Boxer, who is representing the beer drinkers, have claimed in a class action suit in the previous month that Anheuser Busch is watering down its products allegedly to increase profits by stating higher alcohol content.
Attorney Boxer is representing the lead lawsuit in California on behalf of Sonoma County residents Nina Giampaoli and John Elbertand several others against the company. There are also companion suits against the company in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other states and there will be about a dozen lawsuits, according to the attorney.
Boxer is working with Philadelphia-based lawyer David Senoff of Ambler, Pa, who is working on behalf of Thomas and Gerald Greenberg. They claim that the company does not offer 5 per cent alcohol level in its products as promised on the labels.
Anheuser-Busch has responded by saying that it will fight the suit and described the allegations as groundless. Peter Kraemer, vice president of brewing and supply, said in a statement that, "Our beers are in full compliance with all alcohol labeling laws. We proudly adhere to the highest standards in brewing our beers, which have made them the best-selling in the U. S. and the world."
