Projecting that a game-enabled Apple HDTV or set-top box may probably sound the death knell for console gaming as we know it, Nat Brown - the co-founder of Microsoft's Xbox gaming console - said in a recent post on his personal blog that the console world lacks the kind of money-making opportunities which the iOS and Android platforms can offer to the developers.

Brown said in the blog post - titled `Stupid, Stupid Xbox!' - that in case any of Apple's upcoming TV-related projects turn out to be as big a success as the App Store, the gaming consoles from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft may be wiped out because developers would jump on board the Apple project.

Brown, who claims to have named the Xbox, further said in the post that the biggest hurdle in the way of Microsoft advancing forward is that there is an apparent lack of a developing ecosystem which enables developers to create games for Xbox with inexpensive equipment.

Noting that Xbox does not have a "functional and growing platform ecosystem for small developers to sell digitally/network-distributed content," Brown said: "Apple, if it chooses to do so, will simply kill Playstation, Wii U, and Xbox by introducing an open 30 per cent cut app/game ecosystem for Apple TV."
