SpiceJet raises Rs 126.5cr from promoter Kalanithi Maran Budget-airline SpiceJet Ltd has confirmed that it has raised Rs 126.5 crore through issue of Compulsorily Convertible Debentures (CCDs) to promoter Kalanithi Maran.

In a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), SpiceJet said, "The Company on December 31, 2012 has allotted 12.65 million CCDs of Rs 100 each aggregating to Rs 1,26,50,00,000 to Kalanithi Maran, Promoter of the company on preferential basis."

The budget carrier added that it released more than 1.71 crore shares pledged by Kal Airways, one of the promoters that held 15.65 crore or 32.32 per cent stake in the carrier as of September end.

Last week, the carrier's shareholders approved proposal to gather Rs 145 crore for the company through issue of debentures and warrants to its promoter Kalanithi Maran.

Nearly Rs 130 crore would be raised via issue of 14 per cent unsecured CCDs; while another Rs 15 crore will be mopped up by issuing warrants with an alternative to apply for equity shares.

Earlier in November, the company's board had cleared a proposal to issue convertible debenture or warrants convertible into a maximum of 52.177 million equity shares, on preferential basis, to the company's promoter.

SpiceJet operates more than three hundred flights daily.

Stock in the budget-airline slipped 1.46 per cent to close at Rs 44 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
