Verizon to sell two new Windows Phones – HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822
Making two new additions to its Windows Phone offerings, Verizon Wireless revealed in a recent announcement that, by Thanksgiving in time for Black Friday, it will start selling two Windows 8 Phones from HTC and Nokia --- namely, the HTC 8X and the Nokia Lumia 822. Presently, the carrier sells only one Windows Phone handset, the HTC Trophy.
In an indication that the marketing of Windows Phones on the Verizon network will be different from that of the Android handsets, the carrier showed off only the operating system and colors of the two forthcoming handsets, instead of revealing any details about their specifications, screen sizes or processors.
The announcement revealed that the two new Windows Phones by Verizon will be available in black, white, grey, or red colors, rather than the bright neon hues sported by most of the other Windows Phones.
According to the Verizon announcement, HTC's Windows Phone 8X - which, going by a leaked training document, will deliver a simple yet advance smartphone experience - will be available in Black, Blue, or Red colors; and will be priced at $200 with a new two-year service agreement.
Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 822 - which will be exclusive to Verizon; and, as per the leaked training document, will be an ideal handset for customers considering their first smartphone purchase - will be available in Black, White and Grey colors; and will cost $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two-year contract.
