Delhi Govt. forms committee to address concerns about FDI and VATDelhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday announced the constitution of a joint committee, which will look into issues pertaining to implementation of foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail and value added tax (VAT).

The committee will have the VAT commissioner and other VAT officials plus representatives of traders.

The Delhi Govt. announced the constitution of the committee after a delegation of traders led by national general secretary of All India Traders met Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday. Sibal, who represents Chandni Chowk constituency in Lok Sabha, also attended the meeting.

The committee will search ways to ensure smooth commerce in Delhi and increase government revenue.

Dikshit said that a major part of the state's revenue was generated by traders, and thus the government would make sure that they would not face any undue harassment.

The chief minister also asked trader not to evade VAT. She said VAT was an important source of revenue, which was crucial for the development of the city.

The Delhi Govt. also extended the last date of submitting form C2, which provides online information about goods imported from others states of the country, from October 25 to December 31.
