McDonald's to include calorie counts on menus
Global fast food giant, McDonald's has said that it will now include the number of calorie on its menus from next week.
The company has also unveiled several additions to its menu in order to enhance the healthiness of its offerings. The company added a egg white McMuffin, a grilled chicken option for its Happy Meal and seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Jan Fields, president of McDonald's USA said in a statement that, "We recognize customers want to know more about the nutrition content of the food and beverages they order."
The company will also provide an e-learning program to 750,000 of its employees about nutrition, calories and the company's menu in order to help them answer customer queries in a better manner. The company is also planning to launch an app that will provide customers with information about calories on its products and allow them to build a customized meal.
McDonald's operates a total of 14,000 locations around the US and under the laws upheal by the Supreme Court, has to post calorie counts nationwide on its products. McDonald's will be among the first firms to include calorie counts in its menues even as other larger firms have resisted the requirement.
