London  -  A Scotland Yard detective has been charged with misconduct for the "irregular use" of an American Express credit card issued by the police force, the headquarters of London's Metropolitan Police (Met) said.

Detective Sergeant Richard de Cadenet, 38, is one of three officers who have been arrested as a result of investigations by the Met's anti-corruption unit.

He is due to go on trial charged with "misfeasance in a public office" next week.

The alleged misconduct relates to spending between July 18 and October 2 last year, Scotland Yard said. (dpa)
