Sensex Holding On to Early Gains
Sensex holds on to early gains as the afternoon trade on Wednesday showcased that it was up by approx 198 points at that time.
According to the reports, the 30-scrip sensitive index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) ruled at 18,679.2 points, which is definitely higher than its opening point’s figure of 18,552.19 points. It states that the index was 186.75 points or 1.01 percent up from its previous close at 18,492.45 points. Also the 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was trading higher at approx 5,598.2 points i. e. 0.95 percent up.
On the other hand, it was noted that the broader markets notched up moderate gains as the BSE midcap index ruled at 0.73 percent higher and the BSE small-cap index ruled at 0.84 percent. Finally, positivity was seen in the market breadth with 1,739 stocks advancing, 957 on the decline and 108 remaining unchanged.
The gainers list on the sensex was slightly big including Sterlite Industries, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, and Reliance Infra, whereas the losers on the benchmark were ONGC, Bajaj Auto, Jaiprakash Associates and DLF.
Though there were fears in the market that Greece could default on its sovereign debts in spite of several of its major French lenders agreeing to roll over the debts but still, the Asian markets got mixed to lessen the fear and the chances of the country to face any immediate payment calls.
