Diesel and cooking gas prices not to be hiked soon

Murli-DeoraThe prices of almost all the important fuels have risen in the last few weeks. Government first increased the prices of petrol steeply followed by the increase in CNG and PNG in the first week of the New Year.

These prices are already enough to drill holes in the middle man's pocket, thus the central government is not very keen on the increase in the prices of diesel and domestic cooking gas in the near future.

The Oil minister Murli Deora on Wednesday in a statement clarified that the government will try and not put any pressure on the aam aadmi further. He further added that the eGoM meet has been postponed and the matter will be discussed at length there.

The petrol prices had been deregulated in June last year but prices of three other petroleum products diesel, kerosene and domestic cooking gas are still regulated by the centre for neutralizing the ill effects on the common man.

The government does not want to put pressure on the already burdened common man with inflation in food prices.
