Eros Signs Syndication Deals With Sony, Sahara
Media and entertainment company Eros International has made announcement that its Indian arm, Eros Multimedia has signed up syndication deals with Sony as well as Sahara channels.
The deals will permit both the channels to access a library of 51 movies from Eros.
In a declaration, Eros said that the recent deal with Sony allows them to premiere 16 new pics from 2007-08 on the channels, which also includes the current megahits like Om Shanti Om and Heyy Babyy, for the next five years.
On the other hand, Sahara gets 35 library films including "Hum dil de chuke sanam," "Devdas" and "Hey Ram."
Sunil Lulla, director and president, India, Eros International said, “We have enjoyed a great relationship with Sony and Sahara over the years, but this is the first time that we have licensed Sahara a slate of films for television exploitation and hope to continue to do more deals with them in the future.”
Apart from licensing to the top Indian television networks, Eros has also signed deals with television platforms around the world that include Dubai Television, Abu Dhabi Television, RTM Malaysia, Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation and National TV Romania.
Eros Intl., listed on London's Alternative Investment Market, is a major player in the Indian film segment, which has a film library of over 1,300 titles.It releases around 25-30 new movies every year. Besides, the $6-billion Indian television sector has been experiencing growth at 21% CAGR.
