Karachi, Sep 30 : Pakistan’s Supreme Court senior judge, Justice Rana Bhagwan Das, has said that the law relating to the President Pervez Musharraf’s dual office is wrong and the decision that he gave is based on the "call of his conscience."

Talking to journalists after a programme organised by the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), he said that he had annulled the act regarding the holding of two offices by Musharraf.

Addressing new students and fresh law graduates of the SZABIST, he said that the functioning of the state and the government had been described in the Constitution.

Justice Bhagwan Das said that the Constitution is always supreme and all the state institutions are subordinate to it.

He said that there is no doubt about it, and added that any law or administrative decision, which is ultra vires of the Constitution, is wrong.

"It is an ill luck for us that only those students study law in our country who fail to get admission in medical, engineering, computer science and business administration disciplines", Justice Bhagwan Das said.

Justice Bhagwandas headed the nine-judge larger bench, which gave a majority (six-three) verdict on Friday, dismissing the petitions challenging the holding of dual offices by Musharraf, The Nation reported. (With inputs from ANI)
