CBI detains Medical Council Chief for accepting bribeMedical council chief, Mr. Ketan Desai was detained by CBI for accepting bribe of Rs 2 crore from a private medical college for granting them certified permit. Desai and two other people, Jiten Pal Singh and Kanwaljit Singh were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday.

These 3 offenders had demanded 2 crore from a private medical college in Punjab for granting recognition. Kanwaljit is the member of staff working at Gyan Sagar College in Patiala. CBI caught Desai red handed accepting the money.

Desai had various charges of corruption in past also, in 2001 he had been accused by Delhi High Court for some corruption allegations and soon after this episode, he joined Medical council as a chief. CBI claims that Desai had granted recognition to various other colleges who fail to meet the required criteria.
