Orange County Files civil lawsuit against Toyota Motors
Seems like the bad days for Toyota Motor Corp. are here to stay for a while. The prosecutors in Orange County (California) have accused the auto major for selling cars with inadequate information about the safety.
Tony Rackauckas, the District Attorney of Orange County has confirmed filing a civil law suit against the company on accounts of unfair business practices in Orange County Superior Court.
The prosecutors believe that the company has knowingly hid some safety defects in the cars, from the customers, and sold them. The prosecutor's office said in a press statement that they want to stop Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. from selling any of these defective vehicles and put the life of general public at stake. The office said they want the company to abstain from such deceptive business practices.
Toyota Motors, on the other hand, refused any knowledge about any such complaint and thus rejected to comment.
The automaker Toyota has recalled approximately 8 million vehicles across the globe due to some major safety defects in these vehicles. The incident has really has tainted the Japan based automobile player's brand name in the industry. The company executives have been asked to appear for the congressional hearings held at Washington.
