Cornell to make black hole in a lab

Eric CornellDr. Eric Cornell said that he is the process of making a black hole in his laboratory. The Nobel Laureate calls it the 'toy black hole'. The scientist says that he is doing this experiment so that there can be a better understanding of the concept.

Talking about the project, the 2001 winner of Noble prize said that the black hole that he is creating will be like a miniature model. This would help the scientist to learn about the Big Bang phenomenon.

Cornell was present for a seminar that took place in MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore. He is working on the project with one of his students.

He further said that the project is still in its early stages and is being developed in his lab back at University of Colorado.

As a part of the project, they are just studying the behaviour of particles when they come close to Black Hole. It has no commercial application as of now.

Cornell is using the advice of his predecessors who have said that sound rather than light should be used to make it. Black Hole is a space in the space where matter loses its existence.
