US missile strike kills 13 in tribal areas of PakistanPeshawar, Feb 28 : At least 13 alleged al-Qaeda and Taliban rebels were killed in the tribal areas of Pakistan on Thursday in a suspected US missile strike.

According to residents of a village in South Waziristan, a missile blew up a house.

“A house used as a den by Al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban militants was hit by a missile. Thirteen people were killed and around 10 were wounded,” a senior Pakistani security official told a foreign news agency.

“There was no immediate information about the presence of any high-value target,” he added.

Sources said that the missile was fired by a US drone around 2:00 am today.

The residents of the village also said that armed miscreants had cordoned off the site soon after the missile strike, the Dawn reported.

A spokesman for the US-led coalition force based in Afghanistan, however, ruled out US or the separate NATO-headed force involvement in the strike. (ANI)
