Islamabad, Feb. 24 : Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will be meeting elected members of the Balochistan Assembly here on Sunday morning and members of the Sindh Assembly this afternoon.

Meetings of the losing candidates of national and provincial assemblies will begin from Monday and continue for three days. Losing candidates of Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Gujranwala divisions will meet on Monday morning followed by meeting of losing candidates from Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan Divisions in the afternoon. On Tuesday the losing candidates from Sindh will meet followed by the meeting of losing candidates from Frontier and Balochistan on Wednesday, reports the Dawn.

The newly elected PPP members of the assemblies of Punjab and the NWFP have opposed any alliance with the PML-Q at the Centre and in provinces.

"If any kind of forward bloc emerged in the PML-Q, they should be welcomed but we have to made it clear that the people will not accept coalition with the Chaudhrys of Gujrat," the paper quoted a newly elected MPA from the Punjab, as saying after the meeting.

Sources said newly elected MPAs also supported nomination of Makhdoom Amin Fahim as a party candidate for the prime minister slot.

Participants also made an in-depth review of the political situation in the country and felt that circumstances were the most propitious to correct the imbalance of power between the presidency and the parliament and for the maintenance of the parliamentary supremacy.

They said the party would not falter on its commitments made in the manifesto and the Charter of Democracy.

Members also suggested strengthening of the parliament's committees for effective governance through elected representatives.

The meeting paid glowing tributes to slain party leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her courage, wisdom and sacrifice and forcing the regime to hold elections and separating the office of Army chief from presidency.

It reiterated the demand that a UN investigation should be held into her assassination. They also offered Fateha for the departed soul of Benazir Bhutto.

Zardari asked party leaders and rank and file to identify problems faced by the people in their respective areas and suggest solutions, which were doable.

The newly elected PPPP members for Punjab Assembly also reposed full confidence in Zardari, and mandated him to negotiate future coalition government with other political parties. (ANI)
