DLF is all set to sell its wind energy business
Reality major, DLF has been undergoing talks with leading global firms including Gaz de France (GDF) Suez and renewable energy group Akuo Energy to sell its wind energy business. It is advised by Ernst & Young and expected to raise at least Rs 900 crore from the prospective transaction.
GDF with market capitalization of $80 billion is said to be discussing pricing issue with DLF on the current stage and likely to finalize the issue by the end of this month.
DLF said that it has received a number of bids but it did not divulge the identity of interested firms. The firm has formed its new subsidiary, DLF Wind Power, last month for the proposed sale of its wind business.
The firm is doing efforts to reduce its debt burden in the tune of around Rs 14,000 crore and recently sold assets worth Rs 1,000 crore. Also, the realtor has sold its stake in the joint venture with Akruti City to raise Rs 200 crore.
The recession hit DLF also got Rs 336 crore from the West Bengal government following its exit from the Dankuni township project. The recent property sale and other measures may help the ailing realtor to meet its cash need in the midst of the stagnation across the real estate sector.
