Sensex Recovers A Bit; Sun Pharma, Ranbaxy, RCom Post Smart Gains
Intense buying witnessed across realty and health care stocks gave some
relief to the Indian equities, and helped them recovering some losses
this afternoon.
Major gainers in the sectoral indices were BSE
Realty (1.66%), Health Care (2.21%) and Capital Goods (2.14%).
Meanwhile, BSE Metal (2.02%), IT (1.06%) and Oil&Gas (0.40%) were
major losers in the 30-share index.
Amongst the sectoral
indices, BSE Realty Index was up 1.66 per cent, BSE Healthcare Index
gained 2.21 per cent and BSE Metal Index moved 2.02 per cent higher.
Meanwhile,
BSE IT Index slipped 1.06 per cent and BSE Oil&Gas Index declined
0.40 per cent were major losers in the 30-share index.
The BSE
midcap index was ruling 1.53 per cent higher than its earlier closure,
whereas the BSE smallcap index was up 1.62 per cent.
At 02:10
p.m., the benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the
Sensex, which belled the day at 14,755.08 points, was ruling at
14,902.32 points, 0.21% or 31.42 points higher that its previous close.
It also hit a high of 14,953.33 and a low of 14,599.43
The
S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained some
ground, moving up 0.25% or 11.40 points to traded at 4,542.10 points
around the same time.
It hit a high of 4,557.65 and a low of 4,453.45.
According
to Angel Broking, “Trend deciding level for the day is 4528 /14884. If
Nifty trades above this level during the first half-an-hour of trade
then we may witness a further rally up to 4578 / 15034. However, if
Nifty trades below 4528 / 14884 for the first half-an-hour of trade
then it may correct up to 4481 – 4432 / 14721 – 14571.”
The market breadth continues to be positive - out of 2,804 stocks traded, 1,965 have advanced while 780 have declined.
The
top gainers in the 30-share index included Sun Pharma (4.46%), Ranbaxy
Lab (4.02%), HUL (3.94%), RCom (2.31%), Reliance Energy (1.97%), and
DLF (1.80%).
On the other hand, the major losers in the Sensex
comprised Sterlite Industries (India) (5.57%), Hindalco Industries
(3.70%), Tata Steel (3.25%), Tata Power (2.18%), Infosys Technologies
(1.88%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.46%).
