Goody’s sons face new heartbreak with great-grandad’s suicide
London, April 22 : Jade Goody’s sons have new heartbreak to face in their little lives after their cancer-stricken great- grandfather committed suicide.
Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, had been on a holiday to Australia with their dad Jeff Brazier, who had decided to take them away after their mother passed away in March.
And days later the body of Jeff’s grandfather Jack Smith was discovered in his garden along with a gun, while a suicide note was found at his kitchen table.
The 81-year-old had recently been told he had cancer of the mouth and throat and allegedly feared he would also suffer like his late wife, who also had cancer.
The retired firefighter reportedly thought he would add to the burden of the family.
“I can’t take these tumours any more. Don’t tell Jeff, let him continue the holiday in Australia. I’m sorry,” the Sun quoted neighbour Selby Tweedie as saying about a part of the suicide note.
Selby continued: “Jeff was very close to his grandad. Bobby and Freddie were often at Jack’s house. They liked playing in the garden and Jack used to buy lots of things for the boys.
“It’s going to come as a terrible shock for Jeff. He took the kids away so they wouldn’t get upset with Jade’s funeral, and now they will find out their great-grandad has died. Those poor kids will be heartbroken.”
Jeff’s spokeswoman said the young lads would be given the news after more time had passed so that they could deal with the death of their mother first.
The spokeswoman said: “They are very young and have had more than enough pain in the past few weeks.” (ANI)
