Three female NGO employees, driver killed in NWFPIslamabad, Apr. 7 : Three female NGO workers of a USAID-funded project along with their driver were reportedly killed by some unidentified gunmen in the North West Frontier Province's Manshera District.

All three women associated with a non-government organization, Rise International, were on their way to Mansehra from a mountainous area of Kund Bangla when some unknown assailants attacked them, killing them on the spot, The News reported.

Police found the bullet riddled bodies of all the three workers inside their van, while body of the driver was found at some distance from the vehicle.

Rise International's primary work is to carry out educational work in the region.

"The team that met the fatal incident had just visited the area to mobilise the local community to send their children to schools," Rise International's Project Coordinator Shezad Ahmed said.

Ahmed said their NGO did not receive any threat from extremist groups.

No terrorist outfit has taken responsibility of the killings till reports last came in.

Security officials of the area said it is still not clear which group was behind the incident, and said clearer picture would emerge only after preliminary investigations.

"The post-mortem of the bodies was being carried out and only after the preliminary investigations we would be able to give any details about the incident," District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Hayyat Khan said. (ANI)
