Bajaj Auto Limited has announced that the company may launch a small car in the next 3-4 years in India. The second largest two wheeler maker in India will enter the small car segment in partnership with French car giant Renault and Nissan. Managing Director, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj said that in case the talks with Renault and Nissan fail, Bajaj Auto may go ahead with the project alone.

The small car prototype was unveiled today and the company wants to promote the vehicle as economical and affordable car. The Bajaj Auto’s car will be expensive as it will meet safety and emission norms. The standard version will come with an air conditioner.

However, Bajaj clarified that the car will cost much higher than Rs 1-lakh car from Tata. The small car segment is India is growing fast. Small cars have nearly 70 percent share in Indian market.

Bajaj Auto has said in a statement that the car will offer a mileage of 34 kilometer per litre. Bajaj will launch the car in Petrol and Diesel variants. Bajaj has plans to manufacture the small car at its facility in Chakan near Pune.

Bajaj has unveiled its small car just 2 days earlier than the debut of Tata’s small car. The Stock ended the day with marginal gains. Last price for Bajaj Auto on National Stock Exchange was Rs 2538.
