Amar Singh lashes out at Digvijay Singh for his “begging bowl” remark
New Delhi, Feb 17 : Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today lashed out at All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh for his "begging bowl" remark.
"The statements emerging from the Congress are very disheartening," Amar Singh said.
He said that Digvijay Singh will be held responsible if ties between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party are severed.
"We helped the UPA Government when it was facing its worst crisis after Left Front withdrew its support to the government. We came to Congress' rescue. Instead of being thankful if they give such irresponsible statements then the people of this country are witness the responsibility and the blame of any breaking of ties between the Congress and Samajwadi Party.
Earlier, Amar Singh clarified that Samajwadi Party would support the Congress but not surrender to it.
He urged the political parties in Uttar Pradesh to cooperate in forming a secular government in the state and asserted that those political parties which are making a noise over Kalyan Singh joining Samajwadi Party are supporting communalism.
The parties were on a collusion course last week over a disproportionate case against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, which the party described as politically motivated by the Congress to settle political scores. (ANI)
