Kingston Rolls Out SSDNow E & M Series SSDs In India
Memory maker Kingston has rolled out two new 2.5 inch solid-state drives, namely the SSDNow E Series and SSDNow M Series in India, in co-branding partnership with Intel.
Expanding the SSDnow line, both the drives, which are based off Intel’s SSD design, are shock resistant and protect data in harsh environments.
Mr. Mark Leathem, director of flash business development at Kingston, said, “Intel has developed the fastest line of SSD products in the world. Kingston's performance analyses of these drives are off the charts, so we are extremely pleased to be able to offer our customers the benefits of this award-winning line from Intel, backed by the service of Kingston.”
The 32GB SSDNow E drive is to be used in enterprise servers, but the 80GB SSDNow M series is specifically fabricated for notebooks PCs.
The server series, which boasts a read speed of 270MB/s and a write speed of 170MB/s, features 32 GB of memory.
On the other hand, the notebook version offers 60 GB of storage space with a read speed rated at 270MB/s and a write speed of 70MB/s.
Moreover, the 32GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD uses higher IOPS to save energy in a server environment, whereas the 80GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD has a high IOPS for faster boot times and faster application-load times, which enable more productivity.
The Kingston SSDNow E and M Series drives feature S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) to scrutinize the integrity and reliability of the drives.
Other features of the Kingston SSDNow M and E Series of SSDs include:
- Durable: no moving mechanical parts, enabling the SSD to handle rougher conditions
- Interface: SATA 1.5Gb/sec. and 3.0Gb/sec.
- IOPS (Input and Output Operations Per Second): SSDNow E Series: Random 4K read: 35K; Random 4K write: 3.3K
- Life expectancy: SSDNow E Series: 2 million hours mean time before failure; SSDNow M Series: 1.2 million hours mean time before failure
- Operating shock: 1,000 G/0.5 msec operating and non-operating
The price and availability of the new Kingston SSDNow drives, which come with a 3 year warranty, are yet to be announced.
