Karachi, Jan. 15 : There seems to be an unending list of troubles for Pakistani pacer Mohammad Asif, as just a day after the Pakistani senators demanded a life ban on the bowler, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received a copy of the report released by the Dubai authorities regarding Asif's detention there over possession of opium.

The report was sent by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, along with an enquiry about the PCB's future course of action on the issue.

"We've just received a report (from the ICC) about the finding of the Dubai investigation and are now in the process of deciding our future course of action," The News quoted the Chief Operating Officer of the PCB Salim Altaf, as saying.

Asif has been banned from international cricket by the PCB due to a doping scandal during the IPL's first season last year. He was detained at the Dubai airport for carrying a banned substance (opium) during his return to Pakistan after the participating in the IPL.

Altaf said that there was no chance that Asif would be prosecuted on criminal charges, as the amount of opium found with him (Asif) was less than what the law prohibits.

"There is no ground for a criminal charge over a "trifle matter" since the opium found in Asif's possession was less than a gram (0.24 grams), he said.

However, he said that the PCB will not rush to conclusions over what he termed as a "sensitive case". (ANI)
