TCS inaugurates development centre in Bhubaneswar
TATA group owned Tata Consultancy Services started its new IT development center in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The development came when entire IT sector is facing the heat of global financial crisis. The new center was inaugurated by Orissa Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik in a function held in state's capital.
The function was also attended by Surjya Narayan Patro, Minister of Energy, Culture & Information Technology, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, IT, Orissa and TCS leadership team of S Ramadorai besides Managing director of Tata Steel, B Muthuraman.
The company is developing TCS Kalinga Park over 45 acres of land which is the greenest building in the country. It has been designed as country's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated IT Campus. It would be used to provide efficient Banking & Financial, Retail and Insurance services to TCS customers across the globe.
TCS executive, Mr. S. Ramadorai said, "With a strong education eco-system and plentiful talent, Orissa has emerged as a key resource base for TCS in the region. The new centre will also increase our access to skilled professionals and students from in and around Bhubaneswar."
It would add more utilities in its unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM) in days to come. The first phase of 1,000 seated facility has been made operational and it would be expanded to increase its capacity to 7,000 seats. TCS holds significant shares in domestic IT market of country. It has been instrumental in developing country's financial infrastructure including the National Stock Exchange, NSDL, NCDEX, State Bank of India as well as various department of the Reserve Bank of India and the Finance Ministry.
