Hollywood-based agency hopes to make Murray more of a star
London - Andy Murray has fulfilled predictions by leaving his former home-grown management to sign with the Hollywood-style agency which also represents football star David Beckham.
The world number four Scot will begin in two months with 19 Entertainment, which works with Los Angeles show business powerhouse CAA.
Also along for the ride is Murray's doubles-only elder brother Jamie.
"This is a fantastic opportunity. We now have an unbeatable combination of representatives with world-class stature and experience," said Murray.
His new agency is owned by Simon Fuller, promoter behind the Spice Girls and the Pop Idol television franchise who has also developed shows in the past with American Idol judge Simon Cowell.
Murray joins number three Novak Djokovic in the stable along with Beckham, currently on loan from Los Angeles Galaxy to AC Milan, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Murray's endorsement monies are expected to shoot skyward as he prepares to try and give Roger Federer a run in the sponsorship stakes.
Murray is starting 2009 in Abu Dhabi at an exhibition as he aims to carry on with the breakthrough he made in 2008 by reaching the US Open final against Federer and winning back-to-back Masters Series tournaments on the ATP tour. (dpa)
