Manmohan Singh visits Pakistan High Commission, condoles Bhutto's assassination

Manmohan Singh PM IndiaNew Delhi, Dec.28 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visted the Pakistan High Commission here this afternoon to condole the death of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Dr.Singh, who was received by senior Pakistan High Commission officials, expressed his shock over Bhutto's assassination, and said that the subcontinent had lost an outstanding'leader who stood for peace in the region.

The Prime Minister also signed the condolence book and observed two-minutes silence in honour of the slain leader.

Bhutto was assassinated on Thursday evening in Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh area. The Pakistan Government said that she was a victim of sniper-cum suicide bomb attack. She was buried on Friday at her family's ancetral graveyard in Garhi Khuda Baksh.

A mourning period of three days has been declared in Pakistan. Pakistan diplomatic missions around the world, including the mission in New Delhi are flying the national flag at half-mast. (ANI)
