Becks’ AC Milan arrival turns out to be ‘embarrassing’
London, Dec 22 : `Goldenballs' David Beckham's welcome by the AC Milan fans turned out to be rather "embarrassing", as not many people came to cheer for the club's latest signing.
When the red and black carpet was rolled out for the Former England captain in almost half-filled San Siro stadium, the fans of the seven-times European Cup winners stayed silent.
The club had planned a big launch for Beckham in Milan- what with the ace footballer walking the carpet while fifty kids lined his path to the centre circle, all wearing shirts with `Beckham 32' on the back.
However, fans of AC Milan neither shared the same enthusiasm nor did they bother to turn up for the man, who is touted to be an icon for many.
For his grandiose arrival at the `greatest club in Italy', Beckham walked on to the pitch, high-fiving the kids and saying just a few words, reports British tabloid The Sun.
While MC was desperately trying to drum up some noise, the ace footballer could generate just a ripple of lukewarm applause.
Milan tried to perk up the event, which turned out to be a PR disaster, by turning up the music on the loudspeakers to drown out the near-deafening silence.
Beckham stayed on the pitch for a mere 60 seconds before finally trudging off. (ANI)
