No new drilling at Gulf of Mexico
The White House adviser, David Axelrod has informed to the media that they are eagerly waiting to know about the reason of the explosion in the Gulf of Mexico occurred last week. There was a severe explosion in a BP operated rig. He has also ordered that no additional drilling will be held until the exact reasons have not been found out.
US President Barack Obama has issued a moratorium on new offshore drilling last month only. But later US came to know that there was an explosion in the rig and around 5,000 barrels of oil per day are spilled into the water after this rig explosion. This has also affecting the environment and polluting the sea as well.
The US Navy has been sent to tackle this economic and environmental disaster. The US government has also declared the Gulf of Mexico oil spill as "incident of national significance".
The Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal has declared this as a state of emergency and has asked for funds to tackle the situation. For control he has also asked for around 6,000 National Guard soldiers more to clean-up the spot.
