Nissan to hold world premiere of new Datsun in DelhiAuto giant, Nissan has said that it is planning to organise the world premiere of the new Datsun at the Kingdom of Dreams in New Delhi on July 15.

The company is planning to revive the iconic Datsun brand after 32 years in countries including India, Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. Carlos Ghosn, global CEO of Renault-Nissan will showcase the new model of the car, which is expected to be a hatchback in the country.

The new model is expected to be priced at below Rs-four-lakh segment in the country. Nissan will offer cheaper models in markets such as Indian to attract more customers and tap into the fast growing markets. The repot said that the company would manufacture and sell models priced around 500,000 India along with Indonesia and Russia.

The company is reportedly aiming to sell between 1,50,000 and 2,00,000 Datsun-badged cars in India every year. Nissan Motors India has not been able to crack the competitive small car segment in the country and is planning to change that with the launch of new models.

"India is a tough market and it's not going to be a picnic for us, but we believe Datsun can crack it with modernity and a superior product." said Vincent Cobee, corporate vice president, Datsun Business Unit.
