New Zealand defeats Pakistan in the semifinal
New Zealand team has defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the second semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy in Johannesburg on Saturday. New Zealand will now play against Australia in the final match on Monday.
Pakistan skipper Younis Khan won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistan got to a good start as Imran Nazir (28) and Kamran Akmal (24) scored 46 runs for the first wicket. Pakistan team finished their inning with 233 runs on the board in their allotted 50 overs.
Umar Akmal (55) was top score for Pakistan. I Buttler took four wickets while Kiwi skipper D Vettori took three wickets.
New Zealand team chased the target of 234 runs in 47.5 overs with loss of 5 wickets. G Elliot smashed unbeaten 75 runs while Vettori contributed 41 runs with the bat. Vettori was declared man of the match for his brilliant performance with the bat and ball.
