Islamabad, Feb 21: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that the new Parliament would decide the future of President Pervez Musharraf.

"The people of Pakistan have spoken and the world has heard them. But we want all the decisions to be taken at the forum of Parliament," he told reporters here.

"We are fighting for democracy and want to make the Parliament independent and strong," Zardari added.

Zardari said his party wanted an independent and autonomous judiciary.

"When I talk of the independence of judiciary, the reinstatement of judges is part of it. We want to make it self-sustainable and permanent," he said.

Zardari said that he wanted to take the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) along despite reservations from his party's "friends", but ruled out an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

"I will talk to ... Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Imran Khan, Mehmood Khan Achakzai and others to take them into confidence," he added.

He said that his party would reveal its candidate for Prime Minister after it gets an invitation to form a government.

Commenting on Aitzaz Ahsan's statement that Makhdoom Amin Fahim should be the Prime Minister, Zardari said it was Ahsan's personal opinion but close to the party's collective opinion.

Zardari accused the Election Commission of "targeted rigging" and holding back results, the Daily Times reported.

He said the US backed the people of Pakistan and not an individual, but ruled out foreign or presidential influence in forming alliances. (ANI)
