Nepal home to 121 adult tigers and 400 snow leopards; shows data  A latest survey by Department of National Park and Wildlife Reserves has indicated that there are nearly 121 adult tigers and 400 snow leopards at various wildlife reserves in Nepal.  

Apart form this, the survey also suggest that except in Shuklaphanta reserve, the number of adult tigers and snow leopards has not dropped in comparison to 2057 BS, when it was estimated that around 98 to 123 adult tigers dwell in the reserves.  

The reports indicates that Chitwan National Park, Bardiya National Park, Shuklaphanta Wildlife reserves and Parsa Wildlife Reserves are home to 91, 18, four and four tigers respectively.  

National Trust for Nature Conservation's Dr Shanta Raj Gyanwali said: "In the past to calculate the number of tiger it was multiplied in the ratio of 2.8 however this survey was done directly with the help of camera trapping technology."

The commencement of the 14-month-long survey was from Baisakh 2065 BS, and was coordinated by the Department of Forest, World Wildlife Fund Nepal and National Trust for Nature Conservation.
