Neil Young L.A. Concert Cancelled
The Neil Young concert that was to be held at The Forum, Los Angeles on Thursday night has been cancelled, as the 62-year old rocker-activist would rather cancel the show than cross the picket line, the striking local faction of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union of which both Young and his wife are honorary lifetime members, plans to form there during the show against The Forum’s owner, Faithful Central Bible Church, due to disputes over contracts.
A disappointed Young, whose 1989 hit ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ rocked the world, says it was a touch choice choosing between satisfying fans or backing his IATSE brothers and sisters.
To be rescheduled sometime in 2009, ticket holders will be refunded at the point of purchase, the statement said.
Politically active, the Canadian singer/songwriter is in the midst of a North American tour for raising funds for the Bridge School that educates disabled children. He will also be releasing ‘Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968’, an archival live album on 25th November.
