Granada, Spain - Up to 23 people were injured Monday when several chairs on a ski lift fell as much as eight metres in an accident at a ski resort in the southern Spanish Sierra Nevada mountains, rescuers said.

A pulley maintaining the lift was believed to have snapped, sending several chairs crashing to the ground. Snowy weather hampered rescue efforts. Most of the victims only sustained mild injuries. (dpa)
