A recent study conduced by Canadian researchers revealed that pregnant Mom’s Vitamin D Levels May Ensure Strong Teeth In Babieswomen with low vitamin D levels may have babies who are more likely to have tooth enamel problems, which can cause tooth decay.

Researchers from the University of Manitoba examined tooth enamel in 135 babies aged between seven and 16 months.

They discovered that 21.6 percent of babies experienced tooth enamel defects and 33.6 percent of them showed signs of early childhood tooth decay.

The study found that mothers of babies with tooth decay had much lower vitamin D levels as compared with mothers of infants with healthy teeth.

Moreover, the results also disclosed that mothers of children with enamel defects showed slightly low vitamin D levels during pregnancy than mothers of infants without enamel defects.

The study also found that women who drank more milk and took diet full of vitamins during pregnancy had higher vitamin D levels than women who did not do so.

The study details were presented in Toronto at the General Session of the International Association for Dental Research.
