Hamburg  - Mitsubishi is recalling 5,269 Outlander SUVs sold in Europe and fitted with the 2.2 litre DI-D diesel engine because of problems with the electronic engine management system, the car maker has announced.

The engine could shut down in certain driving situations. The problem was found during internal quality controls, Mitsubishi said.

Only the models produced and sold in Europe between September 2007 and January 2008 are affected by the fault, the company said. (dpa)
