Minda Industries bags order worth Rs 50 crore from Volkswagen

Auto component maker Minda Industries Ltd (MIL) has informed that it has won orders worth Rs 50 crore from auto major Volkswagen for the supply of headlamps and rear combination lamps for its upcoming models in India.

In addition, the orders also include supply of rear combination lamps for the global model being manufactured in Russia.

Gurgaon-based Minda will supply these components from its existing facility at Chakan, Pune. The Company is also conducting feasibility studies for setting up a new lighting plant at Bawal in Haryana.

The company is presently in talks with other OEM's for supply of headlamps and expects a turnover of Rs 225 crore – 250 crore in the next two years from its lighting division.

Recently, Minda Industries announced a net profit of Rs 4.49 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008, a 64.47 per cent growth over the corresponding period last year.
