New Balance, a Boston based footwear manufacturer said in a statement that the military has been quite slow to meet its promise to outfit recruits to 100% in sneakers that are manufactured and made in America.

It has been said that in last April, the Department of Defense made an announcement about the changes after intense lobbying was done by sneaker companies and their supporters in Congress.

But now it has been more than a year's time and the US military has so far not purchased a single compliant sneaker.

The Department of Defense clarifying its point said that a testing is still underway. Also, one version of New Balance's proposed shoe has already been passed, it added.

Saucony, a sneaker company, which is also developing an American made shoe, affirmed that the military needs to have a better testing regimen. An industry trade group stated that these delays are highly affecting the domestic shoemakers.
