Miliband tells Sharif, UK doesn’t want “democracy derailed in Pakistan”Lahore, Mar. 14 : The British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband called the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif to discuss the current political turmoil in the country, and to broker talks between the government and the PML-N.

According to The Daily Times, during the telephonic conversation between the two leaders, issues such as the current political situation and the scenario emerging out of the country wide lawyers' protest were discussed.

Miliband, reportedly asked Sharif to resolve issues by dialogues, and urged the politicians of Pakistan to unite for greater national interest.

"Britain wanted that democracy should not be derailed in Pakistan," sources said.

Sharif in his reply said that he was ready for reconciliation with Zardari, provided that judiciary is restored to the November 2007 position, and the decision to impose Governor's rule in Punjab was revoked. (ANI)
