Merida launches new eOne-Forty & eOne-Sixty e-MTBs

Merida Bikes, a Taiwan-based bicycle company with R&D headquarters in Germany, has announced the launch of two new electric mountain bikes (e-MTBs), dubbed the Merida eOne-Forty and eOne-Sixty. As cycling enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the dawn of a new era of e-MTBs, the Merida eOne-Forty and eOne-Sixty have been designed keeping demands of both hardcore mountain bikers as well as everyday commuters in mind. Both e-MTBs embody the spirit of versatility and unmatched performance.

Crafted as an all-around e-MTB, the Merida eOne-Sixty Lite boasts key attributes of long-distance touring e-bikes, with the unique go-anywhere competence of enduro mountain bikes.

It has a robust aluminum frame, and comes equipped with front and rear suspension system with 170-mm and 174-mm travel up front and at the rear, respectively, with the choice of either RockShox or Marzocchi hardware. Shimano’s powerful EP801 e-motor is there to propel the two-wheeler, and the motor relies on a 750-Wh battery pack. As the battery is removable, it can be easily detached from the bike and charged anywhere inside a home or an office. Those who want to cover additional miles can opt for a 1,100-Wh battery.

Those looking for even greater performance can opt for the Merida eOne-Sixty CF. The ‘CF’ stands for carbon fiber. As the name suggest, this variant of the e-MTB has a fully-carbon frame, but the same suspension travel as that of the eOne-Sixty Lite. However, it boasts top-notch suspension mechanisms supplied by the likes of RockShox. Thanks to its lighter carbon frame, this variant can perform well even with a smaller 600-Wh battery pack, but it also comes with an optional range extender boosting this to up to 960-Wh.

Advertising its latest products, Merida claims, “We use the latest drive technologies from quality brands, paired with long-lasting batteries that are engineered seamlessly into e-bikes that are backed up with our lifetime frame warranty.”

The Merida eOne-Forty is a more pragmatic sibling of the eOne-Sixty. Merida is publicizing the eOne-Forty as an “SUV e-bike” as it is a more versatile option transcending recreational cycling. Designed and developed with an intention to make it more practical, the eOne-Forty comes equipped with components like a luggage rack and built-in illumination.

Merida’s new e-MTB range, with prices spanning from €4,699 for the base model eOne-Forty to €12,600 for the high-end model eOne-Sixty CF, has something for everyone.
