Mercedes-Benz Shows Drop In Nov Sales By 25%
Mercedes-Benz cars, owned by the German automaker, Daimler, has shown a drop of 25% in sales in November. Sales in the units, which include the Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Smart and Maybach brands, fell from 113,000 cars worldwide in November 2007, to 84,500 vehicles.
Customers bought 1,034,700 Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles worldwide since the beginning of the year, as compared to 1,079,400 units in Jan.-Nov. 2007. A total of 74,400 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were sold in Nov as compared to, 102,700 units in Nov 2007, a drop of 28%. Deliveries of smart brand vehicles stayed at the high level of the previous year with 10,100 units, compared with 10,300 units in Nov 2007. Smart continues to post double-digit sales growth since the beginning of the year, with the total now amounting to 123,500 units as compared to 90,500 units in Jan. - Nov. 2007, a rise of 37%.
Mercedes brand cars saw the biggest slump in sales in Japan, dropping 46% to 2,100 in November 2008. U. S. sales have seen a close to 30% drop to 16,000 vehicles.
In Germany, Mercedes-Benz delivered 277,700 passenger vehicles to customers from Jan. to Nov 08, a 2% drop from Jan.-Nov. 2007 with 283,300 units. In Nov., the brand performed better than the German market as a whole, and was able to gain additional market shares.
