Mercedes-Benz rolls out locally assembled GL 350 SUVThe Indian arm of luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has rolled out the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz GL 350, which is the first ever GL car that the company assembled outside the U. S.

The Mercedes-Benz GL 350 CDI BlueEfficiency SUV made its Indian debut earlier in May this year, and the company has only now began producing it locally. Earlier, the SUV was produced only at the company's Tuscaloosa plant in the U. S.

The glamorous luxury SUV, which is now produced at Chakan manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, comes equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 diesel motor capable of generating 261PS of power and a peak torque of 619Nm.

The powerful engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox that with the powertrain to power the luxury vehicle from zero to 100 km per hour in just 7.9 seconds.

The company equipped the launch edition with some additional features, and priced it at Rs around 77 lakh.

The Mercedes-Benz GL 350 CDI BlueEfficiency SUV costs Rs 72.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is lower by nearly 5 lakh that the launch edition.

The company claims that it sold 100 units of the luxury SUV in just 15 days of its launch in May. The fall in price of the locally assembled units is therefore expected to boost demand for the SUV.
