Yvonne Freaney, who is 50 years old and mentally ill, is reported to have strangled her autistic son with a belt in a hotel room.

Also, she was spared, as she was cleared of murdering 11 year old Glen, though she was ‘convicted of manslaughter’ based on ‘diminished responsibility’.

Freaney, after strangling her son, tried to commit suicide and she is said to have 3 other children. Hence, at the Cardiff Crown Court, she received 3 years supervision order for the murder of Glen.

According to reports, Freaney’s three other children, suffered from hyper-activity disorder, dyspraxia and Asperger's syndrome, along with her old mother.

Justice Wyn Williams stated that: “I found this sentencing the most difficult one I have ever undertaken, and described the case as extremely sad and the most difficult he had dealt with”.

However, he agreed with the defense, based on the fact that sending Freaney to jail would not be in her best interest and she has strictly been in custody since she was arrest over 2 years ago.

Moreover, Freaney was abused by her husband and had moved out of her family house after her marriage had fallen apart, and was leaving in the sky plaza hotel for about a month with her son Glen.
